Gregory’s Gorge- CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

Gregorys Gorge

CURRENTLY CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

Gregory’s Gorge is a popular camping spot located adjacent the Millstream-Chichester National Park. The Gorge is not only a spectacular camping spot but is also an important spiritual site to the Yindjibarndi people.

Access via the Ngurrawaana community forms part of a new route to the Gorge, details are below with GPS co-ordinates:

How to get to Gregory’s Gorge

- From the Karratha Visitor Centre turn right onto Karratha Road. At the T-junction turn right onto the North West Coastal Highway. Follow this road until you reach the turn off to Tom Price (on your left, just after the Shell truck stop). Drive 54.1km

[S 20 47.437 | E 116 46.246]

- Turn right onto the Rio Tinto Cape Lambert - Pannawonica access road (a Rio Tinto access permit is required) and follow for 1.1km

[S 21 10.348 | E 117 03.309]

- Continue 31.4km and just before the gravel road that continues over the railway line, turn left.

[S 21 10.489 | E 117 02.541]

- Drive for 14.2km to the Ngurrawaana Community and pay $15.00 at the Rangers office (sign ‘entrance fees apply’ is visible from the front of the office)

[S 21 22.119 | E 116 51.221]

- Your ranger will then point out the last bit of your trail to get to Gregory’s Gorge.

Respecting the Area

Gregory’s Gorge is situated in a very important Cultural Heritage area for the Yindjibarndi people and we ask that you respect this please. It is not permitted to ride a motorbike over any of the sites - especially the flour site which you will see on the way to the Gorge. Do not remove any artefacts from the area. Penalties will apply.
